The Lens Edger Instructional Video
Goal: Produce a comprehensive video tutorial that teaches users how to operate the Rochester Optical Manufacturing Company lens edger — covering setup, step-by-step operation, safety procedures, and common troubleshooting.

As Director of Photography, I was responsible for the full visual execution of the project. I operated the camera, selected the lenses, and managed all exposure settings to ensure a consistent and polished look throughout.
A scripted voiceover was necessary to guide viewers clearly through the technical process. I configured and operated a teleprompter allowing the talent to deliver the material smoothly and accurately. I used external audio captured via Rode Wireless II microphones, which added another layer of complexity. I relied on detailed notes and shot lists to keep everything organized and on track.
Scriptwriter
The script was developed through a hands-on collaboration with one of the engineers, who outlined a rough step by step process. From there, I shaped the technical content into language the talent could speak naturally and confidently.
Director
As director, I oversaw the full production from pre-production through shoot days. I scheduled and led internal progress meetings to keep the project on track, coordinated a team of two graphic designers and an intern — assigning tasks to make the most of each person's strengths — and managed the scheduling of all shoot days to ensure a smooth, organized production.
Editor
I managed the post-production process from start to finish. The multi-day shoot generated a substantial amount of footage, and my organizational systems put in place during production made sifting through hours of takes and identifying the best material far more efficient. The final cut was assembled in Adobe Premiere, with color grading handled in DaVinci Resolve and motion graphics and animations created in Adobe After Effects — bringing all elements together into a cohesive, polished final product.
